Verification Standards
Last updated: July 2026
ATHVLVE is built on a simple idea: what an athlete claims and what an athlete has proven are two different things — and both should be visible. This page explains exactly what “verified” means on the platform, and what it doesn’t.
Self-reported vs Verified
Every statistic on ATHVLVE carries one of two labels, and they are never mixed:
Self-reported — entered by the athlete (or their guardian). It has not been checked by anyone. Athletes are free to add these, and scouts can see them, but they are clearly marked so no one mistakes a claim for a result.
Verified — recorded by ATHVLVE staff at an official event. These cannot be edited or deleted by the athlete. When a scout sees a Verified stat, it means we measured it ourselves.
Levels
Athletes select a level that reflects where they are: Youth, Junior, Emerging, Semi-Pro, or Pro. A self-selected level is a starting point, not a claim of status.
A level becomes Verified only when ATHVLVE confirms it at an official event. If an athlete changes their level afterwards, verification resets to self-reported — you cannot inherit a verified badge by editing your profile.
Scout Verification
Scouts do not get access to athletes simply by signing up. Before a scout can view detailed statistics or contact anyone, they must submit identification and their organization for review by an ATHVLVE administrator.
This is a safety requirement, and it is free — it is not a paid tier or a premium feature. Unverified scouts can browse general profile information only.
We are honest about the limits of this: verification is a good-faith check of the information a scout provides. It is not a guarantee of anyone’s character or intentions, and ATHVLVE does not employ, endorse, or vouch for any scout.
Protecting Minors
Athletes under 18 are managed by a parent or guardian, and are clearly marked as minors across the platform. Every attempt to contact a minor is routed to their guardian — never to the child directly — regardless of who the scout is or how they found the profile. There is no setting that turns this off.
Spotlight and Media
Photos and highlight clips posted to Spotlight are visible to signed-in ATHVLVE users only — never to the open internet, and never indexed by search engines. Any user can report a post, and administrators can remove it. Media is presentation only: it never affects an athlete’s level, their verification, or where they appear.
What Verification Is Not
Verification is not a ranking, a rating, or a score. ATHVLVE does not rank athletes against one another, and there is no way to pay for placement, visibility, or a verified badge. Discovery is based on merit — on what an athlete has actually done and proven — and nothing else.
